FAQs
-
FSA/HSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition. Because FSA/HSAs use pre-tax money, you’re getting more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in their health.
With FSAs, individuals can contribute up to $3,400 pretax per year (with additional employer contributions allowed). With an HSA, an individual can contribute up to $4,400 pretax per year (plus an additional $1,000 if you are at least 55 years old).
-
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) are tax-free accounts that can be used to pay for qualified medical expenses. This means you can purchase our services and get reimbursed with pre-tax dollars, resulting in net savings of 30-40% on average. These accounts are usually set up and managed by an FSA/HSA administrator, and you should have access to said FSA/HSA administrator through your employer (ask your HR department!).
-
You can use your FSA/HSA dollars all year long. However, FSA dollars can expire and unused money may not rollover into the next year. Check your plan’s deadline and carryover rules so you don’t leave eligible benefits unused. Spend your FSA dollars on your health before they disappear— use it, so you don’t lose it!

A Letter of Medical Necessity is a formal document signed by a licensed practitioner verifying that a service or product is required to treat a specific medical condition.
HSA/FSA plan administrators require an LMN in order to reimburse you for services like personal training, gym memberships or exercise programs.
You can request this from your own healthcare provider or through our Truemed health survey above.

Generally within 24 hours — if you aren't seeing your letter in your inbox, check spam. If you cannot locate it, need adjustments or have questions about your LMN, reach out to Truemed at support@truemed.com for help!

Your LMN is generally valid for 12 months from the date of issue and can be reused for the same eligible service during that period. However, some plans may require a new LMN each year or have specific documentation policies, so we recommend checking with your plan administrator.
